About | Jute Interior Design

At Jute, we create grounded, beautifully comfortable spaces

We craft one-of-a-kind, welcoming spaces that tread lightly on the earth, and which our clients are proud to call home. Luxurious sustainable design without compromise is our personal and professional North Star.

Ali Davin leads Jute with an art-centric ethos in conjunction with comprehensive knowledge about environmentally safe, nontoxic materials. She began her career steeped in art and antiques while working at institutions such as the J. Paul Getty Museum and Bonham’s auction house in Los Angeles. She relocated to San Francisco where she continued exploring other aspects of collecting and connoisseurship, a passion that continues to inform her work.

Ali’s insatiable curiosity for all things design and hands-on approach inspired her to launch Jute Interior Design in 2009 with studios in Sausalito and Santa Monica, providing full-service residential interior architecture and design services rooted in a holistic philosophy.

Ali’s richly layered, natural light-flooded interiors rendered in warm palettes respond to context and the specific needs of the families who inhabit the spaces rather than chase trends. Her mission yields inspiring results that are better for her clients, the surrounding community, and the planet. She is the author of Live Natural: A Relaxed Approach to Creating Healthy Homes. And writes the Sustainable Design column for Rue Magazine. Her projects have been featured in Elle Decoration, Architectural Digest and Luxe, among others. Ali is a member of the Design Leadership Network, the Good Future Design Alliance and the AD PRO Directory.
